‘Tis the season for Grinches. I mean, they are everywhere. I know you’ve seen them. You’ve got your year round Grinches who just love an excuse to amp up the angst. Those asshats are easy to spot and I do my best to avoid them. The trixy ones to watch out for are the cleaverly hidden Grinches. They hide behind cheerful smiles and show their ugly face in the most unexpected and shocking of ways. They are the true Grinches. Why is that, do you think? Is it because of all the added stress the holidays bring? Is it because they have lost hope? I think that maybe the Grinches are there to help us remember what is truly important.
The holidays is the time for family. For love. For kindness & understanding. ‘Tis the season for new beginnings and redemption.
Until this morning, (*full disclosure- it’s 8:35am dec 25th and I am modifying this post with new inspiration) I was letting my Grinch steal my Christmas. I was bitter and angry and sad. Last week, when I first wrote this blog post, I had decided that I would rather skip Christmas this year. And I was going to do it too. I was wrong. I forgot what was important. I was the Grinch and I was robbing myself of all of the most important things.
This morning, we watched a movie called “The Man Who Invented Christmas”. It is about Charles Dickens and his inspiration for the story of “The Chrisatmas Carol”. It took that movie to see how blind and hardheaded I have been. It took that movie (you should totally watch it! It’s on Netflix and done really well!) to remind me what the Christmas Spirit is all about. That movie made me realize that I have been the Grinch in my world. I forgot what was important.
Christmas is not about what you can buy or the pretty wrapping paper. “The Christmas Spirit” certainly isn’t about what we can get. It isn’t about fancy decorations or flashy lights decorating your house.
Grinches happen. I know I’ve got a few Grinches I’m battling this year. So, to lighten the mood…. This fun social media game uses your most used subjects and words to finish the sentence, “The Grinch stole my”. The silly stories are super fun and are sure to get the people in your social network interacting and talking.
You can save the video and do your own social media post. Here is a screenshot showing the predictive text buttons. Note- You have to have ‘predictive text’ turned on in your phone settings.
I love to see what stories the predictive text tells. And it isn’t always the same either. The first one I did today (as a comment on a shared post from last year) was about how the Grinch stole my cookies. Just now, I did it again for some sample pics to use in this post and I get a much grimmer Grinch story.
So, the Grinch definitely had a story to tell for this post! 😂😳 I would love to hear the Grinch story your phone tells!! Share this post or tag me in your own so I can get a new Grinch story. I’m betting my sister isn’t going to like this one.🤔😂
Be sure to check out my other games, sample some of my recipes, and blog posts. I’ve been a little busy but my last blog post was kinda special and it didn’t get the traction it deserved. Check it out..
