This morning, while scrolling through my morning news, (aka my Facebook and insta feeds) I found an awesome post from one of my favorite friends. Laura asked one question.
Her post had tons of comments and THIS is the kind of news I love to read.
- Betsy “Got married in the exact center of the Bermuda Triangle”
- Lori “Legally changed my name my name to Hellcat”
- Laura “Lost over 400 pounds”
- Kristina “Flew off a giant slide & flipped twice while saving her niece from falling. And she did it again!
- read all of the amazing comments and leave your own. Check out Laura’s Facebook Post
THIS is why I love social media. I love to learn about people. I think it is amazing how we (as humans) are all so similar but we are all so perfectly and beautifully different. And oh so interesting!!
Our lives are full of amazing experiences, unbelievable moments, heart stopping close calls, and awe-inspiring reminders that we are a very small but vitally crucial part of an amazing world. The cool thing is, anyone (and I mean ANYforkingONE) you talk to has tons of their own amazing experiences, moments, close calls, and reminders. It’s all of these things that make us fabulously and gloriously different from any other person (or thing for that matter) on this planet.
So, what makes you different? What is something you’ve done that no one you know has done? A crazy experiences perhaps? Witness a miracle? At first, I couldn’t think of anything that NO ONE else could say they’ve also done. The more I thought about it, I came up with so many things that it was hard to choose only one. After a quick google search to be sure I could back up my claim with proof, I knew the perfect answer to Laura’s question. I decided to go with most unbelievable thing on my list. Well, one of them at least 😉
But, before I get lost trying to explain this crazy story…
I would love to know your answer. Comment below or tag me in your own social media post with your answer. Or, check out my Facebook post I’ve got going asking the same question.
So, I guess if you’ve read this far you must really want to know how I answered Laura’s question. 😳😬😊
I really have to give you a little back story for this to really not seem too crazy. I actually can’t believe I am blogging about this. Honestly, I used to be embarrassed about this story. Then I got over my self and realized it’s freakin hilarious.
Hilarious, right?!? The kicker is, I had no idea how they would use my picture when I had my photo shoot. I was 18 and a photographer offered me 50 bucks on a Saturday to take a headshot of me that she would sell to a magazine she worked with. I knew it was a tabloid but I was like “50 bucks?!? For a picture” That was the most money I had ever made for such a short work time.
A couple weeks later, the photographer told me she sold my picture to a magazine and that we would get the cover! I made another 100 bones!! Score!!
One thing I didn’t expect- I didn’t know what the story would be or how they would use my picture. I didn’t know when it would be released. But, I had my cash (for an hour or so😂) and I was happy.
For three months I bought that silly magazine and looked for my picture. But these ludicrous stories though?!? Have you ever really flipped thru a whole one of these magazines? Where do they come up with this stuff??? NOTHING is off limits and the more unbelievable and outlandish the story the better. I knew our story would be good because it was to be used as a cover story.
For three months I fretted about how they would use my picture. I was also impatient for the release of my first modeling gig. AND A COVER NO LESS!
FINALLY, on April 20th they released my cover. 😂😂😂 Here is the story of Nellie Bacon and her true love.
I have to admit, of all the outlandish and crazy things I imagined the tabloid mag would cast me as, I NEVER imagined to see myself squished into a tiny head on a 42 inch body. 😂😂😂
And a few years later, I was in the checkout line. That silly magazine catches my eye and was shocked to see that we got a follow up story! Surprise to me! Someone out there owes me another 50 bucks!
And now you know something about me that you didn’t know before!! Your turn! Start your own post asking your friends this blog provoking question Laura posted. Thanks Laura!! I knew it was time for a “non food”post and you totally inspired me. You are my favorite dancing buddy and I can’t wait til we get to do it again!! ❤️❤️
